Welcome to Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship!
We are so excited to join you on your horsemanship journey.
Ready to sign up for lessons?
Please check out the information about the Introductory Lessons below.

How do I sign up?
-
First, read this page in its entirety and ask any questions for clarity. Then, fill out a liability form which can be found here. Upon completion of the form, you will receive a welcome email containing the password for the scheduling page. By using the password provided in the welcome email, you can access the scheduling page and select Introductory Lesson which can be found under the "New Student" section. Complete the registration, and you're all set! PLEASE NOTE: A LIABILITY FORM IS REQUIRED FOR EACH STUDENT.

Are there any age restrictions?
-
Yes. While we do accept students as young as 2 years old, students 2 - 5 years old may sign up for a Tiny Tot Intro Lesson. Students 5 years of age old or older may sign up for an Introductory Lesson but must sign up for a private lesson (not riding with a friend or family member). Students who are at least 10 years old may sign up for a private or semi-private Introductory Lesson.

What is the difference between a Tiny Tot Intro Lesson and an Introductory Lesson?
-
A Tiny Tot Intro Lesson is available for students between the ages of 2 years of age and 5 years. This lesson lasts for about 60 minutes and includes a Meet & Greet and an unmounted Intro Lesson to gauge the student's interest in horses. Students will get to practice brushing a horse and playing educational games in the barn.
-
An Introductory Lesson is available for students over the age of 5 (as a private lesson) and above the age of 10 (for a private or semi-private lesson). This lesson lasts for about 2 hours and includes a Meet & Greet and a mounted Intro Lesson (weather permitting) to establish a baseline for the student's riding abilities. Students will receive instruction on safely bushing and saddling a horse, as well as fundamental aspects of riding a horse including moving forward, stopping, and turning. Students who have ridden previously will be evaluated and appropriate skills will be demonstrated and taught by a Texas Equine staff member.
What is a Meet & Greet?
-
A Meet & Greet is a tour of our facility. Students and their accompanying family members will meet Shelby and get to meet the horses too! Anyone wanting to tour the facility must wear closed-toe shoes.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE SCHEDULING:
-
Students must wear closed-toed shoes with a heel. All accompanying family members must wear closed-toe shoes while on property. NO EXCEPTIONS.
-
We have helmets for students to borrow for the intro lesson. Returning students are asked to purchase their own helmet for future lessons.
-
If you schedule an Introductory Lesson for multiple people, each student must have submitted a liability release.
-
All classes are weather-dependent! Texas Equine is an education program, and our staff work hard to provide quality instruction on and off of the horse.
Please note our policies and procedures:
Horse Health Policy:
Conditioned horses are built to carry 15-20% of their weight (this includes the weight of the saddle). In order to keep our wonderful lesson horses safe and happy, we have a weight limit of 200 pounds and a height limit of 6 feet tall. Texas Equine will be collecting height and weight of each new student during the Intro Lesson to adequately pair the student with the appropriate horse. Texas Equine will be collecting data on students and horses 2 times a year to assure continued health and safety. Those who exceed these amounts are welcome to sign up for TECH Classes (Texas Equine Confident Horsemanship Classes) on the ground such as horse care, showmanship, free lunging, lunging and ground driving.
Cancellation Policy:
Texas Equine allows for cancellation or rescheduling up to thirty-six (36) hours prior to the scheduled service. If an individual lesson is canceled before the thirty-six (36) hour window, a partial refund may requested or the lesson can be rescheduled for a different day/time. No refunds will be provided for unused lessons if a subscription or package is purchased. Refunds are not available for lessons purchased through Groupon. A partial refund of 50% may be requested if the lesson is canceled prior to the thirty-six (36) hour cancellation period. Please allow 3-5 business days to receive the refunded amount.
This policy is in place to maintain a consistent schedule and to fund the maintenance that our amazing lesson horses require.
The schedule closes three (3) days prior.
No cancellation fee will be invoiced if the service is rescheduled or canceled by a Texas Equine Staff Member. Lessons canceled by Texas Equine be will rescheduled only, not refunded.

Weather Policy:
Texas Equine will still host lessons if the footing is unsafe to ride. We offer TECH Classes (Texas Equine Confident Horsemanship Classes) which are un-mounted lessons on our EquiSpring, iGallop, lunging, ground driving or in the barn with our fabulous herd of horses. TECH Classes can include balance, strengthening and coordination exercises as well as equine care. The Cancellation Policy still applies to lessons canceled within the thirty-six (36) hour period.
Lessons will be canceled in severe weather including thunderstorms, ice (temperatures under 35 degrees) and extreme heat (temperatures exceeding 105 degrees).
